Thelma Williams
1923 - 2009
Thelma was born June 17, 1923 in Smith County, Texas, the daughter of Henry and Annie Lee Cobb Webb. She departed this life to be with the Lord on October 28, 2009 at Good Shepherd Medical Center.
Early in life she united with and was baptized at El Bethel Baptist Church. As an adult she joined the County Line Church of God in Christ family where she served as a Sunday School teacher and displayed her love of singing as a soloist.
She attended Jamestown Public Schools and graduated from Douglas High School.
She began work at Kilgore College as a cafeteria worker in the 1970s and later retired from the maintenance staff in 1985.
On June 24, 1945, she joined in holy matrimony with Lester Williams. They remained sweethearts, best friends and partners for fifty-five years. Having lost his first wife in childbirth, Lester completed this bond with his daughter, Mary Lee, and additionally seven children were born to this union.
Her parents, husband, son, Howard Williams, granddaughter, Leanda Fagan, sisters, Dezell Johnson, Christine Poole, Lessie Mae White, Evelena Wallace, Wilmer Lee Jackson and Verdell Webb all preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish a beautiful memory to her daughters and sons-in-law; Mary Lee Fagan of Chandler, TX; Frances “Flora Lee” and Henry Thomas of Houston, TX; Brenda J. and Ruben Howard of Ft. Worth, TX; Constance Williams and Leslie Williams both of Kilgore, sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Debbie Williams and Larry Williams all of Kilgore; two of her grandchildren she raised, Melanie Williams and Destiny Williams both of Kilgore; 17 other grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law, Connie and Ralph Trumble of Houston, TX and Cleo Vault of Kilgore, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. ****************************************************************************************************
